About us
My family has a small 80-acre farm in the Ozarks of Missouri. I raise dogs and goats on part of it. A few years ago I had a problem with coyotes killing my goats. That spurred me to find a solution. I began to look for a way to protect my goats while I was at work. I work and live in a local town, and can only check on my goats on the weekends. I looked in to donkeys for protection, but once I realized how much donkeys eat, I realized that we did not have the kind of pasture it would take to support them.
As an added bonus, I soon found that Anatolian shepherds do very well with chickens (if trained properly) and will act as guardians for the chickens as well as the goats.
We have also found these dogs to be very good with children. Our Anatolian Shepherds love to watch my young siblings (they are 13, 12 and 9 years old) play out side and have shown protective behaviors when strange animals (or people) approach the children. When I moved into town to work, I became very concerned with personal protection. I have found that Demo, my stud dog, is really well-suited to city life. He spent his first five months as a sheep guard dog in North Carolina. He has shown how awesome the breed really is, and is very agreeable to town life. He has been socialized with the goats at the farm, but we prefer to use his guarding skills in town. He loves going for walks. His large presence makes my roommate and I feel very secure wherever we are. He also was easily house-trained. He doesn't hike despite the other dog, Spaz the Australian herding dog, being a fellow housemate. Demo has adjusted really well to us and city life and seems able to be either farm guard or personal guardian.
I greatly appreciate that you are considering buying an Anatolian shepherd puppy from me, and I wish to make sure that all purchases go as smoothly as possible.
I have also compiled information on this website to help you decide if Anatolian shepherds are the right breed for you, So please take some time out and give my web site a good look over before you make your choice.
I also wish to stress to you how much care I give these puppies to assure that they are in excellent health when you receive them.
To ensure that the puppies get the best possible start in life, I keep the puppies up-to-date with their latest vaccinations/shots, The puppies are also wormed on a regular basis. I also take the puppies to the vet before you receive them (for a general physical) to make doubly sure the puppies are in top shape and ready to go to their new home.
I recommend that the puppies stay with their dam (mother) until they are 8 weeks old, this gives them a better start in life because it allows them to be properly weaned. It also gives them an extra 2 weeks of wholesome mother's milk. The puppies play with their litter mates longer which helps their muscle development.
